How to cope with cruel chaos

January 12, 2026

Now, justice for the cruel killing of a mother has not yet arrived. God’s time is very long from the human perspective. It takes time to unfold, sometimes what seems like a long time to us. Because God’s time is long, sometimes it is easier to see God’s involvement when we look back on events or on our lives. But God has not forgotten.

Throughout human history, there has been bloodshed. Human society in general can be turbulent like waves in the ocean. From time to time, there are eruptions of greater bloodshed, like huge waves welling up.  Now is such a time of increasing chaos. There is cruelty and corruption, but corruption is its own demise in the end.

Those who continue to calmly pray, meditate, bear witness, speak truth, and quietly help those around them might feel they are not doing enough. But those citizens who have spiritual lives and show kindness to others are the building blocks of society.  It is not nothing that they do – it is everything.

God is love, and God is waiting for us with a loving face.  Amen.
