During church service yesterday:  Jesus’ body broken in crucifixion is the ultimate offering of non-ego, non-self, in which his physical being was dissolved and given up (and later rose again in glorified form). This dissolution is the ultimate death of ego. This is truth of non-self and emptiness.

What happened to his body?  In the Eucharist he gives it to us and feeds us; this is the aspect of loving compassion.  These two truths – of non-self emptiness and of loving compassion – are inseparable, like two sides of a coin.  Or as the Buddhists would say, like two wings of a bird.

This truth is infinite, adamantine, beyond time and space, beyond forms and words. It is also pure peace. We can rest our minds on this. Amen.
