Each leaf of grass is slender, but when a million leaves of grass come up and raise their heads, they make a meadow, a prairie, grasslands. They wave gently in the breeze, imparting peace. The grass and its small meadow flowers give off a sweet scent.

Just so are a million people, or millions of people, standing up, showing their faces, raising their heads, being present, bearing witness, saying “no” to cruelty and violence. Bearing witness in peace is powerful. Let us remember Christ’s Shield of Peace and Justice. Amen.
