Parent and child are bound together, like two buoys tied together bobbing in the ocean. When one is jostled, both are jostled. If one is pulled under by the waves and currents, the other is too. When one’s heart is broken, the other one is upset too. Just so were Mary and Jesus.
Drinking beer does not help your heartbreak. Go for walks, pray, clear your head. It will be OK. You are very angry.
Dear Lord, I am so angry. I’m sorry for this offering, but I am offering up my anger and frustration. Jesus says under the anger is broken heart and not knowing what to do. It seems no win. What is the right choice?
Spirit says, first let go of anger. Offer it to the sky, trees, clouds, birds. Let it float up to the heavens like a big stinky black cloud. Have compassion for yourself, first of all. Sleep if possible. Be with the trees and the birds, who certainly have their squabbles. Don’t think about hypotheticals. Take them cupcakes maybe. Amen.
Jesus has known suffering, and he has suffered at the hands of men, the hands of ignorance and cruelty and avariciousness. He will exacerbate your suffering in your heart until you can see it clearly and burn it off, as it is part of the human condition, which he shared and shares still. Amen.
