John 6:1-15

In today’s lesson of Jesus feeding the crowd of five thousand people or more with five loaves and two fish reminds us once again that sharing creates abundance.  It tells us that shutting out the poor does not lead to abundance. Rather it just creates suffering and discord.  Instead, there is enough abundance in the world to feed everyone.  This is also known by science – the world grows enough food, but the problem is loss and waste of food and insufficient distribution.  Let us turn our spotlight on food systems, rather than on cutting off the poor from life itself.  Amen.
