April 11, 2025, rainy day
There is so much evil in the world now, the heavenly realms are deflecting incoming nonstop without a break, like a rain of bullets or a hail of missiles. As human beings, let us do all we can to keep alive the good and humane ways. Let us find peace in prayer, meditation, and nature.
John 10:31-42
In this reading, the Jews really are preparing to rain down stones on Jesus. What has he done to deserve this? His “good works from his Father” such as healing people? No, the outrage is that they think he is making himself equal to God. Yet Jesus reminds them that even in scripture, it says “you are gods,” for having received the word of God.
Throughout the Gospel of John, Jesus is telling us that the Father is in him and he is in the Father, and in John 17 he further tells us that when we are in Jesus, we are likewise in the Father. This is a thoroughly mystical way, which did not make sense to those who wanted to kill him. As Jesus is both divine and human, the Son of God, he shows us the mystical way for humans, and this does not take away from his divinity.
