Peace seekers, earth keepers, join together

April 8, 2025

Today I see Jesus looking sad, with eyes of regret.  There is so much that human beings could have done to avoid the suffering that is coming from climate change and conflict, and now it is almost too late. Those who seek peace and harmony and those who care for the earth need to seek each other out and join together. They will meet in churches, in fields and forests. They will bake messages into loaves of bread. That is how it will be. Learn those skills now. They will be the keepers of life in the coming chaos.

John 8:21-30

In this passage too, Jesus regretted that many of the Jewish people had not listened to him. He said quite openly that “I do nothing on my own, but I say only what the Father taught me. The one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do what is pleasing to him.”

Jesus always felt the presence of God and spoke what he was prompted to speak.  He did what he was told to do by the Holy Spirit, according to God’s will, and therefore the presence of God never left him, he said here. He identified completely with God the Father, and therefore he could say, “You will realize that I AM,” which is what God called himself to Moses.

Jesus tries to let the people know that he is the conduit, and just as he brings down the word of God, they can access God through him.  They do not need to belong to the worldly realm, but they can hitch onto Jesus to find “what is above.” By believing that Jesus is the “I AM,” they can avoid dying in their sins, he says here.

Although it sounds a bit complicated, it is simply an invitation to the higher realms, on earth as in heaven.  And this invitation is love and tender care for humanity as well.  Amen.
