Mark 8:1-10

Jesus’ heart was moved with pity for the thousands of people who had been camped out for three days to receive his teachings. So much was their thirst for spiritual truths that they did not think about their physical needs. In this remote place, Jesus could so easily have left them to their own devices, but he cared for them and, through the power of love, fed them all.  Jesus fed the hungry – why can’t we?  Even in a remote dry place, he fed them; why can’t we, out of our abundance?

At times we have to use words that are sharp like a spear point to wake up those who stand in the way of justice, but our hearts remain protected by the shield of peace.  This is one of those times.  We must be strong and stalwart, and speak out in the name of justice and peace with our sharp-pointed words of advocacy.
