John 1:1-18
This passage from John, the close disciple of Jesus, is extremely profound and cosmic, and may be contemplated over and over again. It tells how Jesus Christ is the Word of God, the Face of God. There is much to contemplate here, and so many aspects to this, but quite simply, in meditation one can focus on “the light that shines in the darkness.” One can visualize and see Jesus with white light pouring from his heart, emanating out throughout the whole world. We can also recognize Jesus Christ in the creative force or energy or activity of God, such that everything in creation, every phenomenon, partakes of the nature of the cosmic Christ.
Finally, “the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us…full of grace and truth.” From the beginning of his life on earth, Jesus emanated grace and truth to all who saw him with clear perception. This means that even now, we do not need to fear the glory of the Word of God and his awesomeness, but rather understand that he is love and kind mercy. Through contemplating the white light emanating from his heart, we can understand all this, and even look deep into the infinite.
Each person can read this essential passage and form their own relationship with it, their own understanding. That is all for today. Amen.
