We are the Body of Christ

October 20, 2024

Today at Holy Eucharist, when I first came in I saw in prayer Jesus extending his arms to encompass the whole church and everyone in it.  I began to see his veins and sinews extending out in a general way to encompass the church and all of us, and I understood that this meant we are all parts of the Body of Christ.  We are the Body of Christ.

After communion, in prayer I also saw again that Christ having his arms outstretched encompassing the church is also an embrace, a hug, enfolding all of us in his love.

I was offering praise and thanksgiving for the love in my life.  At that, Jesus and the angels seemed sad, very sad, that feeling loved and the recipient of loving help in tangible ways was such a new and unfamiliar sensation for me.  It felt that their little lamb should not have been so deprived of love for so long, for most of her life, and their sympathy brought a tear to my eyes.

Amen.
